#GiveaTree- Kula's International Coffee Day Initiative
September 29th is International Coffee Day, a day in which countries around the world come together to promote fair trade coffee and raise awareness for the plight of coffee growers. This November, our farmers in Rwanda will plant 6,000 coffee trees, and we need your help to make it happen. It costs us $6 to provide a coffee tree to a farmer, and our goal is to get 100 people to sign up to donate one coffee tree a month for one year. By donating twelve coffee trees over a year's time, you are making a direct and tangible impact in the life of a farmer.
We asked a few farmers what they will do with the additional income our program will help them generate, and these are a couple of their answers:
Odette will send both of her boys to secondary school.
Gertrude will purchase medical insurance for her 4 daughters.
Francois will help to feed his 10 grandchildren.
JMV wants to buy a motorbike to start his own taxi service to not only send his 3 children to secondary school, but to university.
Elie wants to build “a hut nice enough that a passerby would pay to stay in.”
We ask you to join them in this journey, and donate a coffee tree a month. Once you sign up, we will send you a card connecting you with the farmer that you supported. As they plant, harvest, and sell, we will be able to keep you updated on their progress.
